Pomona Inn is an early 19th century, stone wall farmhouse – currently performing poorly at EPC rating G. Throughout the design module, the bar took place in the new extension of Pomona. Leaving the existing structure as just bar lounges. To complete the project, I am going to undo the design and look at different approaches to the existing structure. The aim is to retain the current structure for the historical and cultural heritage value of the Pomona Inn.

Considerations were made regarding the current climate crisis and how the impact of this design will prepare the Pomona Inn for the future. The atmosphere was of great consideration, understanding materiality, lighting, sound quality and the user experience was of great importance when presenting a design intervention. Precedent studies into the effects of retrofit and carbon production as well as research into developing an atmosphere were carried out to ensure the design proposal effectively resolved these design considerations effectively.
