The textile weaving mill is a production space set within the Finstown masterplan that connects and encompasses community, agricultural and plants. These elements underpin the Finstown masterplan. The weaving mill building can be classified into 3 zones: preparation, production space, education and studio space.

It will be a vertical processing mill: the full production process will take place on site from wool product to finished woven production. The mill will process raw wool, dye the wool and undertake subsequent processing to allow weaving to occur. The studio space which will provide studio space for creating, learning and welcoming local weavers to collaborate. This allows the mill to expand its connections with the wider community.

The buildings form is driven by processing and production that is undertaken within the building, developing a linear form for seamless production of materials whilst conforming to the narrow site. The mill will undertake vertical processing along a linear path to reduce the horizontal height of the form, minimising its impact on the site.
